Serbian PM Cvetkovic promises rapid work
Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said today that the opinion of the European Commission (EC) on Serbia's candidacy for membership in the EU recognises the efforts Serbia has made on its European path and the results it achieved in reforms.
Cvetkovic told reporters after he was delivered and presented the opinion of the EC by Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia Vincent Degert that Serbia is committed to European integration and will continue to work rapidly in this field.
The Prime Minister stated that today is a special date for Serbia, but also for the Serbian government which started from scratch three and a half years ago and which expects the EU Council of Ministers to grant Serbia EU candidate status in December.
Degert pointed out that the EC sees the issue of continuation of dialogue with Pristina as status neutral and underlined that this is not a new condition for Serbia and that there are no new conditions for its EU accession.
He voiced hope that dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will continue soon.
