During the stay abroad, passport serves as proof of the identity of its holder and as proof of his/her being a national of the Republic of Serbia. Passport can only be used by the person to whose name it has been issued.

We ask you to look after your passport while staying abroad. In case of loss or damage of your passport you are advised to apply to the nearest diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Serbia.

 

ISSUANCE OF A BIOMETRIC PASSPORT

During the stay abroad, passport serves as proof of the identity of its holder and as proof of his/her citizenship of the Republic of Serbia. Passport can only be used by the person to whose name it has been issued. Serbian passports are issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.

When applying for a new passport, it is necessary to apply in person. When applying for a child, the presence of a child is also necessary.

Required documents:

1. The previous Serbian biometric passport,
2. Completed and signed form (zahtev.doc)
3. Serbian Birth Certificate (Izvod iz matične knjige rođenih), the original or a photocopy, issued recently or the old one,
4. The proof of Serbian citizenship (Uverenje o državljanstvu R. Srbije), the original or a photocopy, issued recently or the old one,
5. The statement that the competent authority in the Republic of Serbia may officially obtain the data necessary for the decision-making process (ZUP.Obrazac.BPI.doc).
6. Consular tax is 66 EUR. If there are, more than 7 months left until the expiration of the previous passport, the consular fee is 71 EUR.


 
If the old passport, which you have, is a blue one (the passport of SR Yugoslavia) or the red one (the passport of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia), it is necessary to provide the proof of Serbian citizenship (Uverenje o državljanstvu R. Srbije), or you should fill out the following form: DodatniPodaciZaBPI.doc
 

If you need to apply for the biometric passport of Serbia for the first time, since you acquired your Serbian citizenship recently, and you do have the Decision of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia confirming your acceptance into the citizenship of Serbia, it is necessary to start the procedure of registering into Serbian books of vital records. The issuance of a new passport is not possible without the birth certificate issued by Serbian authorities.

When applying for a minor child, it is necessary for both parents to be present at the Embassy, or in case that one parent cannot be present – the written consent signed at the office of Notary Public/Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (SaglasnostRoditelja-eng.doc).

The new passport will be issued within two months. The passport can be issued for less than two months if you ask for an urgent procedure and bring the proof of urgency.

Deliverance of the new passport

Passport can be delivered to the person authorized by the applicant in case that the applicant could not be present. In this case, the authorized person is required to bring the following:

• Authorization letter (must be written in Serbian language and legalized. The sample could be seen here: ovlascenje.preuzimanje.pasosa.doc)
• Applicant’s passport - for cancellation, if it isn’t already expired. We will not punch holes on foreign visas or work permit stickers in your old passport.
• Valid passport of the authorized person.

The Embassy is unable to accept requests for a biometric passport for the following persons:

• Children born in Egypt until their birth has been duly registered in the vital records in Serbia.
• A person who concluded marriage in Egypt and is applying for a new passport with a changed family name, unless the change of family name has been duly registered in the vital records in Serbia.


 

LOSS/THEFT OF THE PASSPORT

In the case of loss or theft of the biometric passport of the Republic of Serbia, it is necessary to immediately report the loss/theft to the Egyptian Police Department and obtain the Police Report regarding the same. Afterward, the Embassy may initiate a procedure for declaring the missing passport invalid and you may apply in person for a new passport or travel document for your return back to Serbia.

For declaring Serbian passport lost, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

1. Document for identification (valid identity card or driver’s license issued by the Republic of Serbia, a photocopy of the lost passport).
2. Police Report about the lost passport
3. Completed and signed statement about the loss/theft of your passport (form IzjavaIzgubljenaBPI.doc)
4. The consular fee in the amount of

 

 

ISSUANCE OF THE EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT TO RETURN TO SERBIA



The emergency travel document is a document that serves only to return to the Republic of Serbia and is valid 60 days from the date of issuance. It will be issued to the person whose passport has expired, or which has reported the loss/theft of the passport or in other cases prescribed by the Law on travel documents of the R. of Serbia.
The request for the issuance of a travel document may be submitted in person or by mail.

Required documents:

1. Identity document (issued by the Republic of Serbia: Identity Card (lična karta) or Driver’s license, expired biometric passport).
1. In the case you don’t have any ID document, it is necessary to fill out the form  (ProveraDrzavljanskogStatusaIdentiteta.doc)
2. Two identical photographs size 3.5 x 4.5 cm that accurately reflects the image (taken from the front – not profile or semi-profile - without a hat or a scarf)
3. The form (PL.zahtev.doc or for a child PL.zahtev.dete.doc)) for the issuance of the travel document, legibly filled out, signed on both sides (the signature must be certified by a Notary Public if the request is sent by mail)
4. The consular fee is 41 EUR
5. If the request is being submitted by mail it is necessary to submit a self-addressed return envelope with prepaid postage affixed, approximate date of your travel and a contact number (shipping by mail service)

For minors under 18 years of age, in addition to the above documents, the presence of both parents is necessary or the written consent of a parent which is not present (SaglasnostRoditelja.doc or SaglasnostRoditeljaPL-eng.doc). If the request is being submitted by mail, the signatures of both parents must be certified by a Notary Public/MFA.
