In framework of manifestations which mark 100th Anniversary of First World War, Serbian Embassy together with Faculty of Art Education – Helwan University, Cairo, organized competition for the best students art works. Award ceremony and opening exhibition were held on Sunday, June 15, 2014. with the attendance of the representatives of Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt, foreign embassies, students and participants in competition and other guests.
Among more than 70 participants, special Jury awarded with first prize work of Ms. Dina Reda Mohamed, with second prize among Mr. Hatem Mostafa Shmed and Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Rehab, and third-place Mr. Saruk Ismail and Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdulal.
Opening exhibition, Serbian Ambassador Dragan Bisenic emphasized importance, meaning and liberation consequences of the Great War, but said we have to realize other dimensions of freedom, like welfare of all individuals and rights of citizens. “To ensure that goal, Europe started great project of European unification. This year Serbia achieved very important foreign political goal, starting negotiations with European Union as candidate country. To join unity of European nations is not only about that to be member, but much more to accept and implement huge numbers of highest standards which will contribute to modernization and development of country as whole”.
Speaking about relations between Serbia and Egypt, Ambassador Bisenic said: “Relations between Serbia and Egypt are based on long time friendship and mutual respect and experience of supporting and helping each other in good as well as hard time. Serbia and Egypt relay at each other in international forums and organizations and we have very close views about international problems and development in the world.
Our both countries are passing time of great transformations. We congratulate to Egyptian people elections of new President Abdel Fatah El Sisi and our President Tomislav Nikolic sent his congratulations.
There is proverb: when the character of a man is not clear to you, look at his friends. We are proud that others could see us looking at the Egypt for so long time”.
Exhibition of art works by students of the Faculty of Art Education of the Helwan University is organized by the Embassy of Serbia in Cairo and the Faculty of Art Education and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Egypt and Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt.
The exhibition will be open until 22nd June (daily 10 a.m. to 16 p.m).
